Director-General Wang Tianming Meets with Consul-General Ravi Bhattarai of Nepal
On November 14, Director-General Wang Tianming met with Ravi Bhattarai, the first Consul-General of Nepal in Guangzhou.
Fujian, a frontrunner in China’s opening-up, has been vigorously advancing the Belt and Road Initiative and building the pilot Free Trade Zone and the core area of the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road, said Wang. The Province has seen a rapid economic growth, steadily improved infrastructure and a greater willingness and capability from its people and companies to “go global”.
Nepal is well-known for its fascinating scenery and unique historical and cultural traditions. Opening direct flights between Fujian and Nepal, and hosting a tourism promotion fair in Fujian, as suggested by Wang, will greatly boost tourism cooperation and mutual understanding between the two sides. Business and production capacity cooperation could also be explored in fields such as infrastructure, modern agriculture and light industry.
Ravi Bhattarai agreed with Wang’s proposal and stressed Fujian’s pivotal role in the consular district of Nepal Consulate General Guangzhou. He pledged to push for hosting a tourism and investment promotion fair in Fujian and promote direct flights for closer people-to-people and business bonds between the two sides.
During his stay in Fuzhou, Mr. Bhattarai also exchanged views with officials from Department of Education, Department of Commerce, Fujian Tourism Development Commission and CCPIT Fujian Sub-Council.
