French Delegation Visits Fujian
A nine-member French delegation consisting of former senior government and military officials, experts of leading think tanks and prominent media professionals visited Xiamen and Wuyishan City during November 9-11. The aim of this visit is to get firsthand information about the achievements of China-Europe and China-France cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
In Xiamen, Vice Mayor Han Jingyi met the delegation and provided an update of Xiamen’s economic and social progress as well as the achievements of its cooperation with France. Mr. Frédéric de Saint-Sernin, Administrator of the French Institute for International and Strategic Affairs and head of the delegation, commended the latest achievements of Xiamen. He praised Xiamen as a livable city with sound development of economy and industry. More exchanges and cooperation, as he noted, will be brought about by the Belt and Road Initiative. The delegation was also shown around China-Europe freight train terminal in Haicang Port area, Xiamen Ocean Gate Container Terminal Co., Ltd., Xiamen Planning Exhibition Hall, and King Long Motor Group.
At the meeting in Wuyishan City, Vice Mayor Guan Wensheng briefed the delegation on the city’s tea industry and its active involvement in the Belt and Road Initiative as the starting point of the ancient “Tea Road”. After the meeting, the delegation visited Wuyi Star Tea Co., Ltd. to learn about the history of Wuyi rock tea, and took a rafting along the Nine-bend Stream to enjoy the charm of Mount Wuyi as a natural and cultural heritage site.
