Deputy Director-General Li Hong Meets with Consul-General of Indonesia in Guangzhou
On November 16, Deputy Director-General Li Hong met with Ratu Silvy Gayatri in Fuzhou. The outgoing Indonesian Consul-General in Guangzhou came to Fujian for her farewell call.
Li warmly welcomed her visit and appreciated her efforts in promoting the relations between Fujian and Indonesia. Li stated that the friendship between Fujian and Indonesia peoples goes back a long way. Up to this day, Indonesia is still a main destination of overseas travel, trade and investment for Fujian people.
Li said Fujian will continue to develop friendly relations with Indonesia and enhance bilateral economic and trade cooperation and people-to-people exchanges in accordance with the principle of "amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness" championed by President Xi Jinping. Thanks to our joint efforts, the first Indonesia Research Center in China was established in Fujian Normal University this year. In addition, the APEC Business Travel Card advocated by Fujian FAO facilitates more Fujian entrepreneurs to do business in Indonesia.
Li added that Fujian is implementing “the Belt and Road Initiative” and building the core area of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road in full swing, which will offer a good platform for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the future. To this end, he proposed that the two sides should give their respective potentials to full play. Apart from traditional fields of economy, trade and investment, more cooperation opportunities can be explored in fields like service industry, infrastructure, education and culture.
Ratu Silvy Gayatri appreciated Fujian FAO’s support during her term of office. She said, Fujian is an important province in the consular district of the Indonesian Consulate in Guangzhou, and she believed Fujian can achieve greater success in the future. She totally agreed with Li’s proposal of expanding the scope of cooperation and will support this cause as always.
