Fujian Provincial Government Hosts the 68th National Day Reception
The reception marking the 68th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China was held in Fuzhou on September 29.
Some 200 people attended the reception, including Vice Governor Li Dejin, heads of relevant provincial departments, recipients of the Friendship Award, and representatives of foreign experts, business people, teachers, and students working or studying in Fujian as well as overseas Chinese and compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. FAO Director-General Wang Tianming presided over the event.
Vice Governor Li noted in his speech that the past 68 years has witnessed China's remarkable development and growing overall national strength. Fujian sustains strong development momentum in the process of reform and opening up. Over the years, we have fully implemented the pilot reform programs granted by the central government, given priorities to industrial transformation and upgrading when adapting to the economic new normal, put people first in our development endeavors, and advocated the green development idea of “Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets”. Efforts have also been stepped up to maintain stable growth, promote reform, make structural adjustments, improve living standards, and guard against risks.
Fujian’s economy has maintained a steady and sound performance. In 2016, Fujian’s GDP grew by 8.4% to RMB 2.85 trillion, ranking tenth nationwide for the first time, and its per capita GDP ranked seventh in the country.
The ninth BRICS Summit was successfully held in Xiamen early this month. Fujian will seize the development opportunities brought by the Summit, embrace economic globalization, adopt a more proactive opening up strategy, and foster new edges in global cooperation and competition.
Vice Governor Li thanked friends from all circles at home and abroad for their contribution to Fujian’s development and looked forward to their continuous support.
