The Philippines A Cappella Concert held in Fuzhou
On the evening of June 5th, 2015, the Philippines A Cappella Concert was held in Fujian Grand Theater. The event was co-organized by Fujian Provincial Foreign Affairs Office and Consulate General of the Republic of Philippines in Xiamen. The A Cappella Chorus of Philippines University, a world-renowned chorus in a cappella, presented an amazing performance in the city of Fuzhou.
This cultural event is part of the efforts to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and the Philippines as well as the 20th anniversary of the inauguration of the Consulate General of the Republic of Philippines in Xiamen. Among others, the A Cappella Chorus of Philippines University has won the champion of Europe International Chorus Competition twice and was awarded the Artist for Peace by UNESCO.
Consisting of three parts---European classic music, traditional Chinese music and special Philippines music, the concert won rounds of applause from the audience. “The Philippines Tourism Photo Exhibition” was also held in the theater.
“Colorful Cultural Events” is a brand of the provincial foreign affairs office to promote cultural exchanges between other countries.
On the afternoon of July 11th, the provincial foreign affairs office and the Department of Commerce, Labor and Industry of Okinawa prefecture jointly held the “Fujian-Okinawa Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition”.
There were over 50 works on display, of which some 20 works came from Japan and the rest were contributed by 5 artists from Fujian Mindu Painting Academy. The calligraphy works on exhibition included regular script, hand running script and seal script; visitors could also appreciate paintings of beautiful scenery.
