Singapore "Passion Made Possible" Tourism Promotion Launched in Fuzhou
On October 16, 2017 “Passion Made Possible” Tourism Promotion was jointly held by Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Changi Airport Group in Fuzhou, the first leg of the serial events in five Chinese cities including Fuzhou, Nanning, Zhengzhou, Wuhan and Chongqing.
It is a major move made by STB for China’s market in the wake of the unveiling of the country’s newest brand ---“Passion Made Possible”.
Over 200 people attended the event, including Ms. Low See Peng, STB China Regional Director, Mr. Chi Chiew Sum, Singaporean Consul-General in Xiamen, and leaders from Fujian FAO, Fujian Administration of Tourism and tourism businesses in the province.
Dozens of Fujian tourism businesses had one-on-one meeting with 28 Singaporean tourism service providers, including representatives from scenic spots, hotels, travel agencies, airlines and cruise companies.
China is one of the major sources of tourists for Singapore. In 2016, Chinese tourists paid over 2.86 million visits to the country, a 36% year-on-year rise. The number of visitors from 16 targeted Chinese second-tier cities grew by 53% over the previous year, outpacing the national average growth rate and accounting for 28% of the total that Singapore received.
Singapore values cooperation with Chinese local governments and tourism businesses in second-tier cities. It hopes that such partnership will lead to better experience and services catering to the popular trend and encourage Chinese tourists to take Singapore as their primary destination.
Supporting the holding of tourism promotions by foreign embassies or consulates general in China has been an initiative taken by FAO to grow local tourism businesses and keep them in connection with global players. The series of events hosted this year by Indonesia, India, Vietnam, Thailand and Singapore are part of Fujian’s efforts to enhance cooperation and exchanges in tourism and cultural sectors with countries along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
