Director-General Wang Tianming Meets with Consul General Y.K. Sailas Thangla of India
On December 26, 2016, Director-General Wang Tianming met in Fuzhou with Mr. Y.K. Sailas Thangla, Consul General of India in Guangzhou, exchanging views on the upcoming Ninth BRICS Summit in Xiamen and the exhibition “Gupta Sculptures and Their Chinese Counterparts” in Fuzhou, as well as friendly exchanges and cooperation in trade, investment, and tourism.
Wang Tianming said that both China and India are ancient civilizations with splendid history and cultures. The exhibition “Gupta Sculptures and Their Chinese Counterparts” to be held in Fujian in early 2017 is highly relevant to the upcoming Ninth BRICS Summit in Xiamen, Fujian. Our Office will work closely with the Indian side to make the exhibition a full success. In addition, we will also organize field trips to India and other BRICS countries for local mainstream media outlets, in a bid to boost sister-city relations, people-to-people exchanges, and practical cooperation in various fields.
Sailas Thangla thanked the FAO and other relevant Fujian departments for their support in hosting the exhibition. The Consulate General will maintain close communication and collaboration with the FAO on the visit of the Indian leader to Fujian for the BRICS Summit, and help elevate India-Fujian cooperation to a new high.
