Deputy Director-General Li Lin Meets with Cambodian Consul-General
On June 30, Deputy Director-General Li Lin met with Heng Poeu, Consul-General of Consulate General of Royal Cambodia in Guangzhou.
Li Lin welcomed Heng Poeu’s first visit to Fuzhou and briefed him on the general conditions of Fujian province. He said that Cambodia and China have long shared a close relationship. Early in 1983, King Norodom Sihanouk visited Fujian. In 2010, King Norodom Sihamoni also visited Fujian. This June, Deputy Prime Minister Men Som An came to Fujian to attend BRICS Political Parties, Think-tanks and Civil Society Organizations Forum. In 2016, Director-General Wang Tianming visited Cambodia and signed the letter of intent to establish sister relationship with Kampong Speu Province. Next year will mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cambodia, which can serve as an golden opportunity for our further exchanges and practical cooperation. Fujian has a lot to offer to Cambodia in traditional sectors such as building materials, furniture, garment and agriculture, as well as pillar industries such as electronics, machinery and petrochemical. The two sides can pursue international cooperation on production capacity in the areas mentioned above, as well as in tourism, sister cities, education and sanitation.
Heng Poeu expressed that China and Cambodia are friendly neighbors, and China has done a lot for Cambodia’s economic and social development. He hoped to enhance cooperation with Fujian FAO to open a new chapter of friendly exchanges between Fujian and Cambodia.
During his stay in Fuzhou, Heng Poeu also attended “China(Fuzhou) International Fisheries Expo”.
